LA Hawks Membership Guidelines
Welcome! LA Hawks is a soccer team formed in 1984 to serve Japanese and Japanese American families who could not join regular American soccer leagues on Saturdays because of the popular Asahi Japanese language school which meets on Saturdays. This explains meeting on Sundays, and the strong connection with Japanese culture.
The Hawks continues this tradition to the present day and encourage the coaches to utilize the Japanese language and mannerism to interact with the players and staff.
In honor of this cultural foundation, a child must meet at least one of the following criteria.
A. Saturday School
Member attends a "Japanese Saturday School", i.e., a cultural or language-oriented school which meets on Saturdays, thus making most youth soccer organizations such as AYSO unavailable to them.
B. Japanese school/Education
Member is enrolled in a Japanese Language and/or Cultural School or preschool, a Supplementary Japanese Language School, or a Japanese Language Immersion Program at the time of registration.
C. Actively studying Japanese Language
Member is actively studying Japanese at home with a Japanese native speaker.
D. Arcadia Residency
Member is a resident of the city of Arcadia, CA. Practices and Home Tournaments are hosted on City of Arcadia fields.
If space permits, a candidate who does not meet the above criteria may be considered. LA Hawks currently has 2 spots per each division who may fall outside of the criteria. The availability for these spots will have to be confirmed by the division managers/directors.
Make an Appointment
Any child is allowed for two trial practices with an appointment. Appointment for a trial session can be set with a director or a manager, via email, phone call, or in person. A signed waiver must be filled out prior to the child's participation.
Walk-ins
Only an observation is allowed for walk-ins. You may set an appointment for a trial session during this time.
Either a director or a manager of the appropriate age group will contact you within two weeks following the two trial practices as to whether he/she has been accepted to join the organization for the current season.
The child may be placed on a waiting list if the child has been accepted but is not able to join due to lack of space.

a. LA Hawks was founded to provide opportunity for Japanese children who cannot attend Saturday activities.
b. LA Hawks is operated as a Non-Profit Organization and member parents are expected to volunteer in some form.
c. We are part of a SoCal Japanese league and comply with its regulations.

LA Hawks メンバーシップのガイドライン
LAHawks は、毎週土曜日にあさひ学園等の日本語補習校に通学している等の理由により、土曜日を主として活動する現地サッカーリーグに参加できない日本人及び日系人子女のために、日曜日に活動することを目的として 1984 年に結成した日系のサッカーチームです。
以来、南カリフォルニアの日系サッカーリーグに継続して参加し、日本語によるチーム運営や、日本文化の多くの側面をチームの伝統として引継いでいます。 ホークスはこの伝統を現在に至るまで続けており、コーチから選手、クラブスタッフに至るまで、日本語と文化の使用を奨励しています。
したがって、メンバーとなるお子様は、以下の基準(“criteria”)のいずれかを満たす必要があります。
A. 土曜日学校(サタデースクール)
民族文化又はその言語に基づく「サタデースクール」に通っているが故に、ASYO 等の現地サッカーリーグに参加できない状況にあること。
B. 日本語学校
入会時に、日本語学校(プリスクールを含む)もしくは補習校に通っていること。または、入会時に現地校の日本語の Language Immersion Program に参加していること。
C. 日本語の勉強
日本語ネイティブスピーカーと一緒に自宅で日本語を勉強していること。
D. アーケディア市住民
練習拠点のフィールドの提供自治体である、アーケディア市の住民であること。
チームの定員に余裕があれば、上記４ つの基準を満たさないメンバーの加入を、一定数の上限を設けて許可することを考慮します。現時点では、各部門 2 名としております。
<チームへの加入手続き>
練習へのトライアル参加
チーム加入希望者はまず、該当ディビジョンのディレクターもしくはマネ―ジャーに E メール・電話もしくは直接連絡し、練習へのトライアル(お試し)参加の日時を予約します。
トライアルは2回までの可能です。
当日の練習参加前までに、ウェーバーフォームにサインし提出する必要があります。
トライアル実施後、ディレクターもしくはマネージャーより 2 週間以内に、チーム加入の可否をトライアル参加者に連絡します。
空きがない等の理由によりすぐに加入できない場合は、ウェイティングリストに載せるかどうかをお伺いします。
ウォークイン
トライアルの予約なしで練習場所へ直接来られる場合は、練習には参加できず見学のみとなります。
見学の際には、トライアルの予約が可能です。

a. LA Hawks は土曜日に活動できない日本人・日系人子女の為に設立された組織です。
b. LA Hawks は非営利組織(Non-Profit Organization)であり、父兄のボランティアによって運営されています。
c. LA Hawks は南カリフォルニアの日系リーグ(JASA)に参加しています。
d. LA Hawks は一般的なクラブチームではなく、トーナメントのためのチーム作りを主とはしていません。
